We started 245Digital back in 2014. It’s been a wild ride. From WordPress to software engineering to Inbound marketing, we’ve evolved with the industry. The tools have gotten better, and the competition, fiercer.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the fundamentals.

At times, we tried to outsmart them. We failed. So with more scars and gray hair, and 50 years of combined experience in sales, marketing, and tech, we’re here to tell you:

Scott spent the first part of his career in hospitality. He learned a ton about customer service, thinking on his feet, and, well, sore feet.

After becoming disillusioned with long hours and working holidays, he moved to Tennessee, and while working full-time as the manager of a print shop, he finished a degree in marketing.

Meanwhile, in 1995, he started one of Tennessee’s first web design agencies (Mediapulse). Then, he created one of the earliest known SaaS products (iDeal Platform. Then, in 2010, he sold both for a tidy sum.

Those years, with all the national disasters (9/11) and recessions (2007 onward) taught Scott the difference between order-takers and real marketers:

Order-takers struggle in bad economies. Real marketers always find opportunities.

Scott’s next venture was 2:45Tech, which focused on web and mobile app development. His second SaaS product taught him that it’s crazy to build a platform to compete with HubSpot.

As the old adage goes, “If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.” So Scott did. 

2:45Tech became a Certified HubSpot partner in 2021 and did a slight rebrand to 245Digital soon after.

Jeff Bales About Jeff

Jeff graduated from the University of Tennessee and has over 18 years of sales and marketing experience in the technology and fitness industries.

He joined 2:45Tech (now, 245Digital) in May 2017, and agency life has suited him just fine. The industry is constantly evolving and changing, and Jeff is a natural problem-solver. He looks for opportunities and lessons in situations that might stress other leaders out.

Jeff’s love of learning and people becomes apparent to anyone who works with him. He’s a terrific listener, and he’s passionate about fully understanding our client’s challenges. If there’s a solution, he’ll find it.

And Jeff would tell you there’s always a way to become more profitable and efficient online. He’s one of those weirdos who actually thinks this stuff is fine:

“I enjoy working with a variety of clients and finding a way around their challenges. It’s similar to solving a puzzle but more rewarding and fun because I know the end result will positively impact another person.”

In his role as Vice President of Sales and Operations, Jeff deftly connects 245Digital’s team and processes with our clients’. Along the way, he gives good advice and nudges all of us toward greater and greater efficiency—without being “that guy” at the meetings. We know you’ve met him.

As a kid, Jeff wanted to be a basketball coach, and his non-guilty pleasures still include watching college football and basketball and spending Saturdays in the fall tailgating with family and friends. Go Vols.

It’s no surprise that Jeff’s motto comes from John Wooden:

“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?”

Before joining 245Digital, Erik was the Head of Marketing and IT Director at xPrep Learning Solutions. He streamlined operations, optimized performance, and increased brand visibility for four brands.

As our Senior Hubspot Specialist, Erik draws on his 8+ years of experience in leading complex projects, aligning technology with business objectives, and implementing inbound marketing campaigns.

Erik is one of those marketers whose versatility makes you a little sick (with envy). SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and content marketing—you name it, Erik is proficient. And genuinely excited to see clients win, too.

Like the rest of our leadership and implementation team, Erik drank the HubSpot Kool-Aid. He played a pivotal role in streamlining 245Digital’s internal ops and enabling us to use HubSpot to its full potential and help our clients do the same.

Erik loves a fast-paced environment, especially one where he’s focused on results—that is, leads, conversions, and revenue growth.
